Bought two types of cake, bee sting and cheesecake. Bee sting completely underground, dough, filling, almond paste, everything horrible. Cheesecake full of cheap lemon flavor. Hands off!

I find it overrated. Nice decor and good service

Impossible and very rude staff! The waiting times are extremely long, even when there is demand, even placing an order takes an extremely long time, especially until you get something. Our visit was during the week, I don't even want to know how it is at the weekend. I won't go there anymore.

Very nice place to have breakfast in the weekends. Especially when it’s sunny you can perfectly sit outside as well. You get a lot of freshly made bread rolls, scrambled eggs and a proper breakfast plate.

Central location on the edge of Carlsplatz, nice, friendly service, attractive furnishings. Coffee, drinks and food, cakes - all unspectacular good average at high Düsseldorf prices.

Unfortunately, there is still not a single plant-based cake at the Bastians. This is no longer appropriate in 2020. The lady behind the counter was irritated by my request and her answer to my question was: "I like meat & fish" and she doesn't know how to prepare such a cake.

Had the deluxe breakfast for two. Large selection more than enough. Everything was put on the table and arrived without a long wait. Great price / performance. Very recommendable.

Bach ware and bread are very tasty. Breakfast is good too. Inside, unfortunately, mostly much too warm due to the open bakery. Staff often overwhelmed, hectic and unfriendly. What doesn't work at all and there are also deductions for the evaluation. Get the same game at the bread roll every Sunday morning. They haven't had enough change there for years. Sometimes you get snapped at you by the shop assistants if you pay with a 20 euro note or if you don't have any change yourself. Since the problem has been known every Sunday for years, you should now be so well organized to at least have change in the house.

Employees all seemed very stressed and hectic, even though it wasn't that busy. I found the Iced Chai Latte to be positive. A nice change from usual offers.

Large selection to put your breakfast together, depending on your needs and hunger. There is also a "ready-made" breakfast, such as B. Hangover breakfast. Staff due to full table occupancy overtaxed but friendly and tried hard. However, it takes time to be served. M. E. too few staff.

The cafe is great. The coffee tastes very good. Through the open bakery you can watch the baker at work and you know where it comes from. The rolls and cakes are all delicious. The various options at breakfast invite you to feast.

Very tasty quiches! Last time I ordered goat cheese quiche with pine nuts. The whole thing came with a delicious fresh salad and tasted great. Recommendable!

Very great cafe. Rich breakfast and it tastes good, but the price is also higher. Deduction for the extreme warmth in the shop and you can not ventilate properly and the toilets need more care.

Nice café / bakery with very friendly staff and decent food and drinks. Unfortunately two stars have to be subtracted, because the place is much too warm. (The outside temperature was a little over twenty degrees when visiting) The toilet could have been a bit cleaner. Unfortunately it smelled a bit in the toilet area.

Such a place deserves a rating, Sensational breakfast, especially more than adequate and great quality. A NO butter and jam pack await! Service was great despite being very busy.

One of the best brunches I've ever had (outside of home). It's a bit tough to find a seat but if you're lucky you're going to enjoy the food ;)

Wonderful croissants, cosy environment. One of my favorite places for a breakfast in Dusseldorf! A sure must-go if you like breakfast and patisseries.

The service has been slow in my experience but since the place is so cozy i haven't minded. The cakes are delicious. Great for meeting up with friends or family or take a break after shopping. The outdoors are just wonderful on a sommer afternoon. The area is usually full of people but suits the ambience.

Amazing place. The waitresses spoke very good English and provided us with an English menu. We had a breakfast share plate which was delicious and would highly recommend. It gets very busy so might have to wait a little for a table but 100% worth the wait.

Great cafe, friendly conditions. When it comes to bread, cakes and other dishes, it's simply delicious. We like to have breakfast there. Bread and rolls still taste good there. Unfortunately, many know this and it is always well attended and sometimes a little noisy. Nevertheless, a visit is really recommended.

Perfect place for breakfast

A bread shop with every type of German bread. This shop is famous: deservedly so! It is in a good central spot adjacent to the market and very accessible. The entire incredible display of different bread and baked products and specialities is set out in a large front display window for easy identification of what you want. Well worth a visit to be tempted.

You can pay with Cents, they DON'T accept that and they invite you the coffe

Strammer bastian's without bacon . Strammer max with Gouda is also recommended. It is a crowdy place make sure you might wait for a table during weekends. (They accept only cash for non Germany debit cards)

A simple google search for top rated bakeries in the Old City of Düsseldorf landed me here and to be honest this should be at leat on of your top two choices for breakfast in the old city. Everything was fresh, high quality products, professional and friendly staff members, clean, beautiful ambience, excellent location and comfortable seating. I think I need though to highlight that this place was extremely busy today (Sunday). Regardless our waitress managed to be friendly, professional and highly competent. We paid for a deluxe breakfast with at least 5-6 types of cheese, butter, marmalade, black coffee, small fresh orange juice, latte, black tea, a basket full of several types of toast and “brötchen”, tomatoes and scrambled eggs. We asked them to remove all meat ( pork & turkey)products that were supposed to be included in the breakfast menu. Overall a GREAT experience and certainly for me THE place to have breakfast when I come back to Düsseldorf.

Really nice bakery. The cakes and pastries are really quite nice and they sell entire cakes if you're looking for a delicious birthday cake. The restaurant/cafe attached to the bakery serves really tasty food. The soups come served in delicious German bread, I definitely recommend that. The quiche was quite disappointing as it did not taste as if it was freshly prepared, which is something you would expect from a bakery. Otherwise I have not had a negative experience in my many visits to this bakery. Definitely recommended.

This is a wonderful bakery and cafe. I ordered the potato soup in a bread bowl and the bread and soup were delicious! The gourmet breakfast looked amazing. Everyone at our table loved their meal. I wish I were hungrier and could have tried more items. I had a hard time choosing! Definitely eat here!
